THE POWER OF NAVY

Is it just me or are we seeing Navy make a huge appearance on the design scene.I have never been a Navy person myself,at least when it comes to wearing the color. I have always associated it with a  color choice older women make because they think wearing black is to harsh. I have to admit though I love this color in the home front. The few times I have seen it,it’s been as a second color choice for cabinetry either the lowers or the island, and it looks so clean and fresh and yet still reads as a neutral that plays very well with other colors. What about a feature color on the wall ,with lots of crisp white trim and and the introduction of gold accessories, super chic. Imagine how much you can change it up from one season to the next, add a splash of yellow or red in the summer months, and tone it down with charcoal and a soft dove gray in the winter.

I once painted a clients beach house Navy Blue with crisp white trim and a red door,it truly was beautiful and to this day remains exceptionally classic.

So what are your thoughts on Navy? I don’t think I’ll be wearing it as of yet,but as a color for decor, let’s just say it’s in the back of mind stored for future use. Love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Love it! Fabulous photos! The EMI Interior Designs kitchen reminds me of the first house my husband and I bought when we got married. The kitchen with its white cabinets opened up to the great room. I painted all the walls a very similar blue as shown. It had very tall ceilings; I used lots of white and natural textures. I’d change out my “pop of color” in the accessories whenever I wanted to try something different. It was one of my favorites. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Speak Your Mind ... I love to hear from you !
