PATTERNED TILE.

When building the house I am currently in,I almost settled for the wall tile shown here in the picture above for a design on the floor in front of my bath tub,the idea was to make it somewhat a carpet design and therefore a focal point. I can’t tell you how glad I was that it never happened,1.) due to the sheer cost and 2.) the bath tub would have had to come out if I wanted to replace this tile down the road. (REALITY CHECK PLEASE)!

This has had me thinking how quickly trends can change, leaving us with costly bills replacing all the things that are no longer “trendy”. I love to make sure I am the first to always stay current, but I am so tired of being told one minute to jump on the trend train to be told the next that, that was soooooo last year…….REALLY!

I think that each of these pictures are beautiful in their right, but for me I want to love the fixed elements in my home forever, knowing that I can change the small inexpensive things like the accessories if I need a quick fix. I have built enough homes to know what I wouldn’t do the next time, and I am increasingly aware that its the things that are permanent such as tile, toilets, sinks, counter tops, flooring(I don’t care how popular a trend is) that should all be styles and colors that will work with anything and everything you choose to put with it down the road.

So what are your thoughts? Are you crazy for the pattern craze and feel you will never tire of it? Or do yo feel it’s better left to the things that can be easily changed? Love to know!

I have to admit that tile is gorgeous! especially with all the white.

If I was forced to choose though ,I think I might be able to live with the next couple of ones, seeing as I see more texture then pattern.

I’m with you on this one. My initial reaction is, “Oooo pretty!” Then I’m over it. I would be done with it even before the application of it was done.

  2. So agree!!! OMG, I would be sooooo angry if I had to look at the same pattern for the next 20 years!

Speak Your Mind ... I love to hear from you !
