As designers we are called upon to design all sorts of things, from whole homes to small elements,to sometimes just one room.I myself have always wanted to design a nursery and maybe someday far far in the future when I am a grandmother again far far in the future I will get a chance to.
I think a nursery is a place that needs to be quiet it’s not just a place a baby sleeps and awakes in but also a place 2 parents will spend a lot of time the first few months or more. If I was going to spend that much time in a room you can bet I would want the design to appeal to my senses as well. I have never cared for nursery’s that are loud, bright and full of cartoon characters(please leave them on t.v.). I would want it to be soft, tranquil and cozy for both mommy and baby. It should also be easily adaptable without a lot of work and money when the time comes to change it up,besides there is going to be plenty of time ahead that little voices are going to want to have a say in what they want their bedrooms to look like.
What are your thoughts? Do you think it should be all about the color and cartoons? Or are you for the softer side like me?
Here is some inspiration!

Yes, leave the cartoon characters to the story books and the movies. Each of the rooms above are easily transitional to an older child. Beautiful and practical.
These are all such fabulous nurseries. Babies aren’t concerned with color schemes and furniture styles, so decorating at this point is more for the parents. I’d much rather spend time in one of these rooms. Great post, Dawna!
