MY FRESHENED LIVING ROOM

As always every season I’m prone to bringing in new textiles to freshen up the look of certain rooms, especially the living room seeing as it is one of the things you are looking at all the time in my very open concept home. As you all know by now I am also drawn to all things black and white! This season though I’ve decided to take a more graphic approach to liven up the lack of color I have in my home. I always seem to start a season ahead, planning what seems to be on trend for the upcoming season, and I knew that somewhere in the mix I was going to have to have David Hicks fabric. Anyways this is how its turned out and I’m quite happy with these very transitional prints. Stay tuned for winter!

For a list of sources for the pillows see here for my prior post http://www.dawnajonesdesign.com/diamonds-are-a-girls-best-friend-2/

In the meantime here a few other living rooms that I find inspiring, and although there maybe a lack of color, the success of each is in the layering of prints and texture, when color is absent in rooms these are the elements that are required in order for the design to triumph, one of the reasons it can be so difficult to design with black and white!

Let me know what your thoughts are.

I love how the carpet really pulls the design of the whole room together.

Although the stripes are a very graphic pull, the texture of the mirrored windows and the backs of the white chairs make it a winner for me!

There is no graphic punch here, but many different organic textures that make this room by all my favorite.

Everyone loves stripes as much as me!!

Lots of graphic pillows, and the added boost of texture on the walls.

All graphic here, love that classic English damask!

All images Google.

  1. A great black & white approach to freshen up a room – cool inspirations. My living room is mainly in black & white too, although I tend to add some colourful cushions and throws for an extra dash of colour. I just can’t without:-)
