KITCHEN OF THE YEAR!

Have you seen the KOTY!(aka: kitchen of the year) in House Beautiful as designed by Mick De Giulio? OMG! It is pure perfection in every sense of the word. It combines all the things that I love in a kitchen and that I try so hard to combine every time I do one. Gone are the days when kitchens looked like kitchens, in a day and age where open concept rules the roost kitchens ideally need to take on the look of the rest of the home, they should be completely functional but not feel predictable. That is where a misfitted kitchen comes into play, meaning what? Well forgoing upper cupboards in favor of open shelves, choosing a focal point like one upper wall and either tiling the whole thing our adding wallpaper for a wow! Cabinets that are functional but aren’t matchy, matchy maybe even adding in some furniture pieces. Kitchens are great places to display art as well as collectables so incorporate places to do so,giving it a more personal feel.Choose drop dead light fixtures that really get peoples attention. The point here is think outside the box when designing your kitchen it is one of the most important places in the home and it should be treated like it in the designing of it! If you want more inspiration check out Mick De Giulio’s website under kitchens and see the master at work.

Are you ready………..

So what was your favorite element in this kitchen this year? For me it was all the places he found where you could display things I loved that!

  1. Be still my heart! I love how open this space is and the fact that he took that concept all the way to the rooftop. There is so much light in this room. I love it!!

  2. Isn’t it fantastic I love how well it seamlessly blends with the rest of the room,it would be a dream to work and entertain in that kitchen!
