Found this beauty on Houzz, a stunningly beautiful home entitled Rancho Santa Fe House. Designed by Shaw Coates. Although I couldn’t see that she had a website, you can view her other projects on Houzz. Her decorating I have to say is brilliant, and I adore the color of choice she has chosen to feature Dijon, with just a touch more acid to it. Have a look.

I have been following Sara Paloma Pottery for quite sometime now, waiting and anticipating the day I can purchase some of her exquisite  handmade pottery. The colors and organic shapes she makes are so lovely, I’m not so sure I would be happy just purchasing one, when 3 look look better together.

I’m feeling today like letting you all in on a secret! Some of you may know this others may not, but I am still so surprised at how many of my friends don’t know about all the wonderful sales sites online. Nowadays the deals out there are to be had on the computer, not so much in the stores, well in Canada anyways. And yes, if your wondering I have a huge internet shopping addiction (The Post Office LOVES ME!!!!) but I don’t buy unless it is a smokin deal. So today I want to tell you about the Coach Factory Store online. It is the most amazing thing ever, but here’s the deal you have to sign up for their emails or you will not be invited to the sale, this is the only way in! Think you can get a better deal elsewhere, I challenge you. I got this beauty yesterday for just over a $.100.00, and yes for Canadians the duty, taxes and shipping is a bit steep, but even added in its cheaper then what you would normally get this on sale for. What I’m saying is, it is totally worth it!

Dwell Studio Pillow

Every season we seem to be drawn to a color that inspires us to incorporate it into our homes, or better yet if we are lucky enough we can  wear it too. For me that color this season is Lavender.

I was recently inspired by a photo on Instagram from The Cross, a beautiful store here, out West. In this picture there were two poufs, one in a deep magenta color the other in the palest of pale lavender. I was soooo inspired! I started to think of all the things that this dreamy spring like color goes so well with. Grey’s, blacks, whites, navy blues, pale green and the list goes on. If your not brave enough to commit it to a piece of furniture you can always bring it in on pillows, a beautiful throw, or better yet a vase full of gorgeous flowers. The hunt is on for me to find that perfect shade of extremely pale, barely there lavender.

Yanic Simard
Hardly ugly huh!

I have been a long time fan of Yanic Simard of Toronto Interior Design Group. His style is traditional,  injected with a more modern approach and has a definite more handsome feel to it. It reminds me a lot of Brian Gluckstein. If you recognize Yanic, it’s probably from his design guest post on City Line, not to mention it would be hard to forget a face like that!

This home is just one example of many that is truly Yanic style!

Not a single thing I would change in any of these spaces! How about you?

Well last week we had some interest in the house, but one of the complaints was the cracks in my floor.  I have to say I was offended to say the least, you see I have grown to love those cracks. Why? It is the nature of concrete, it’s the beauty of what it does, and I fully recognize that now. So to voice that my floors don’t justify the price of my home because of the cracks, is crazy to say the least. Concrete floors are part of the modern look of a home, and in my opinion are no different then a traditional home having beautiful wood floors that have character due to time. I embrace the cracks, so much so that I will have them again next time, so if you don’t like my cracks or my cracks offend you, I encourage you to look elsewhere, cause my cracks are here to stay!

What’s your opinion, crack or no crack?

Please, make sure you use your waves, and choppy seas, to help elevate you in your life, because without them we wouldn’t be who we are today. With each wave, we become more and more refined.

This home is set in Arizona, and doesn’t in my opinion look like the typical desert house there, see for yourself.

If this is what the desert is all about, count me in please! This client is from the East Coast and I can see that this had a definite influence in the overall finished product. Although I think it would have been nice to see a few Arizona like influences, the home is still well put together. The sand like color scheme injected with hits of that soft coral, is pretty, and probably their nod to” desert style”. Either way this is a beautiful home, and David Michael Miller is a designer I will be keeping an eye on.

I remember years ago, probably in the early 90′s seeing a high gloss white kitchen and thinking it was the ugliest thing I had ever laid my eyes on. Back then I was all about traditional, and getting the hand painted look on my cupboard doors. Fast forward several years, and I have completely changed my tune!

When we built this home, it was my desire to own a high gloss kitchen, despite a few upturned noses. I even had a hard time finding a company that had them, seeing as they had gone out but were now thankfully coming back in style. I don’t regret a moment having them. They add such a beautiful, reflective quality when the light outside hits them, and cleaning them has never been a issue for me. Although I rarely ever duplicate a look in my homes, I have to say this is one I’m not ready to let go of. In a design world full of kitchen trends coming and going, high gloss white is still near and dear to my heart.
