Last week while I was in town doing some shopping and awaiting the grand opening of West Elm,I did my favorite thing,I went to Bau-Xi gallery in Vancouver to see what was new and fresh in the art world. I love it when I have this opportunity, especially when I am with my mom,not only is she my best friend, but her and I have the same level of passion for art,we can spend all day looking, examining and dissecting each piece until we think we have it figured out! This is the artist that captured our attention …….
When you walk into Bau-Xi gallery you are captured by the very sparse all white space, any artwork therefore is going to really capture your attention, this is exactly what Jamie’s work did to me. I felt so many emotions well up in me viewing her pieces, her work made me feel like I could be studying one of the Dutch Master’s masterpieces it’s that good. I felt transported to another time and era, maybe because her paintings have that aged almost medieval look to them contrast that next to the all white space, nothing short of breathtaking. Although her palette is dramatic and sometimes dark, there is still a very feminine feel to her depiction of floral’s,but not so much so that it couldn’t be at home in any space. If you have a chance then you must make it a point of going to see her work,or you can view it in it’s entirety here. Here is just a teaser.
What did you think?

Thanks for bringing her to our attention.
She is another one of my favorite Vancouver artists
Have been following her progress since 90′s.
