We are in the process of putting an offer in on a property (I’ll let you know how it goes),it’s one that we keep going back to,which says it should be ours, the difference with this one is the size of the lot,we only would have 23 feet of house, width wise to work with, pretty narrow huh! But that’s the attraction,we always love a challenge, and it would also mean a smaller footprint which is a huge plus for both of us. So of course I have been searching ideas for this space (even though technically I’m as usual jumping the gun!) and I came across this picture.
What appeals to me,is the seating arrangement in the foreground, all it is is 4 chairs surrounding a fireplace. For the longest time I have wanted to do this…. why, because no one here ever sits in the living room. It is a beautiful space but my husband and I have an area dedicated to the t.v. in a separate room, I personally do not care for the t.v. being exposed to everything else. When company comes we all sit at the table till wee hours. So I have decided that this is a must for me ,the look has always appealed to me it’s kind of a club like or lounge like feel if you will, and not to mention more intimate then a big living room filled with things that no one ever uses.
So what do you think of this look? Is it to informal, are you more prone to having a larger space to entertain in I would love to know your thoughts.
What I love about some of the spaces below,is that even though the size of them could accompany a large amount of seating options they opted to forgo that look in favor of something much more simple.

I think it all depends on your life style. If you’re into a lot of entertaining, especially big groups, this arrangement would still work as part of a larger room. But in a small space, I still love it. It’s cozy, it’s intimate, and would induce conversation. I think living in a smaller footprint presents it’s challenges, but I think it’s well worth it. Too many people live in too large spaces, and it”s space that never gets used. What a waste! Keep us posted.
